Our Ports are supplied by Weise and Krohn a small producer that makes fine Colheita Ports. This Port house is renouned for its superb quality Ports across its range. Krohn commands so much respect that it was bought in June 2013 by the Taylor Fladgate Partnership, the company that makes Taylors, Fonsecca and Croft Ports . This on the one hand is a real shame as Krohn were a unique independent Port house. On the other hand it reflects their noted high quality. We shall see what happens in the next few years. In the meantime please see our list below as well as the much talked about Vintage 2011.
Krohn Late Bottled Vintage 2005/07
Deep ruby colour with upfront aromas of black plums, spice and dried herbs, firm and evident tannins and a rich, long finish. The generous plummy characters, freshness and pure berry fruit characterise Krohn LBV.

Krohn Colheita 2000/01
Youthful, medium brick red. Lots of young plummy fruit aromas, as well as dried fruit, figs and nuts on the nose. Really smooth on the palate, silky and elegant in texture with balanced acidity, more dried fruit and spice notes. The flavours really linger. This has all the colour and richness typical of the excellent 2000 vintage combined with mellow, spicy characters from 10 years in cask.

Krohn Vintage 2011 Port
A wonderfully herbaceous nose with a dense palate of sour cherries and stewed prunes and a ripe harmonious finish. 2011 is a breathtakingly good vintage and will be relatively forward for drinking in 15-20 years but with the potential for longevity well beyond this. 2011 really is the year to invest in some vintage Port.

Quinta do Retiro Novo 2011
A single estate port.Wiese & Krohn's estate Quinta do Retiro Novo is located in Sarzedinho, a very small village in the Rio Torto valley. In this area the nature of the soil where the vines are growing, the altitude, the locality, the (low) productivity and the slope of the vineyards are particularly favorable to the production of quality Ports. Again from the suberb 2011 vintage , superb and ready for drinking in 15 – 20 years.
